Roll's electric bikes made their Cochrane debut last week.
As of June 17, Cochranites can hop on one of the 40 e-bikes expected to arrive in town and get a battery-powered boost while pedalling to their next destination.
"The expansion of e-bikes into our community means more options for residents to get across Cochrane safely and affordably,” said Devin LaFleche, community connectivity advisor with the Town of Cochrane, in a press release. “This is an incredible way for Cochrane to once again reduce its carbon footprint, becoming more environmentally conscious.”
The bikes are the latest addition to Roll's electric fleet in Cochrane, which also includes e-scooters. The e-bikes are designed for longer distances, allowing for more local transportation options and have a small front luggage rack which allows space for users to travel with their items with ease.
Roll will also be expanding their fleet into the communities of Sunset Ridge, Bow Ridge, Jumping Pound Ridge, Bow Meadows and Cochrane Heights at no extra cost to the Town.
"The expansion creates an opportunity for shared micro-mobility that is more accessible and equitable for the community," reads the press release.
Designated parking spots, no-parking and no-ride zones, and slow-speed zones, will continue to be established by the Town of Cochrane.
The e-scooters were originally a part of a two-year Town-led pilot project that began in 2021.
