A Foothills County man is facing property crime charges after he was stopped by police north of Calgary.

On April 22, RCMP’s Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit was investigating property crime in Mountain View County, RCMP said in a media release.

A white GMC Sierra towing a flat deck trailer and skid steer was observed with an obscured licence plate, so officers conducted a traffic stop.

Police discovered the truck was stolen from Crossfield, the trailer was stolen from Calgary and the Caterpillar skid steer was stolen from Okotoks.

Clayton Whaling, 43, of Foothills County, was arrested and charged with three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

After a judicial interim release hearing, Whaling was released and is scheduled appear at Alberta Court of Justice in Airdrie on May 23.
